Well, having posted once here, I thought I could try to add new posts once or twice a week if not more. There is so much more to A.A. than just going to meetings and meeting with sponsors.

So far as GSR for the Twin Cities group, I’ve learned a little about the service structure that links my home group to the surrounding Area 50, via District 5 activity and my service to it as GSR.

The knowledge was gleaned by reading about 15 pages of the A.A. Service Manual which uses a template to describe responsibilities for the GSR, DCM, Area Assembly, Area Committee, the Delegate, and the Annual General Service Conference, as well as other committees that serve the needs of the Fellowship.

I talked to my sponsor about getting a Service Sponsor as recommended in the A.A. Service Manual. So, having been given a short list, I chose a man from the Lockport #1 group who was a past delegate. He and I are going to meet face-to-face once a week at the Point Of No Return seasonal meeting in Niagara Falls, NY.

Its my hope that I can start adding content to this blog, and keep it clean of too many biographical details, and other personal items. Of course I find it important to mention groups on the Frontier, but I’m still learning quite a bit about the Internet and Anonymity. Having talked to my Service Sponsor by phone, I had to admit that my posting of a photograph of a long time, now deceased member of the Sixth Step group of North Tonawanda was indeed a violation of his family’s privacy. This type of sensitivity needs to be developed and closely adhered to.

Please keep in mind: There is a Calendar of Events linked to the District 5 page. There are lots of events on it. There is a General Service Assembly with Voting coming up on September 16, from 10:00-12:00 pm.

  1. Thank you for your Service to AA. I am glad that you continue to evaluate and connect with your service sponsor. I think it is important that, as members of AA, we continue to grow ourselves, the community and service to other.
    Thanks!
